About the Role:

In this Kalamazoo, MI based role, the Supply Chain Manager will report to the Plant Manager and focus on supporting strategic production control, driving planning strategy to action, improving scheduling and inventory control. Having a continuous improvement mindset is key as they'll examine existing procedures and find ways to more effectively streamline to meet product distribution needs. In addition, they'll manage full cycle supply chain with direct reports, so prior managerial and leadership experience is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages inventory targets, including daily report out on metrics
  • Analyzes inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service
  • Purchases international components and serves as primary liaison for international vendors
  • Designs or implements supply chains that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies
  • Ensures End-to-End supply chain processes are supporting customer and business needs
  • Implements process improvements to decrease overall costs and improve inventory management and supply chain efficiencies
  • Provides transparent communication with team, partners, and leadership to highlight issues and solutions with supporting data
  • Works to resolve (in case of design changes) labor and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions
  • Minimizes inventory write-offs of finished goods inventory, intermediates and raw materials
  • Manages activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing, or receiving
  • Forecasts and monitors purchase price variances
  • Proactively and effectively facilitates operational level meetings, such daily production sessions, as well as provides concise narratives in executive/strategic level meetings
  • Oversees master schedules for production and new product, ensuring comprehensive compliance with materials requirements for manufacturing. They'll then incorporate this info into forecasts and master production schedules.
  • Develops balanced factory optimization schedules to ensure customer demands and factory utilization targets are achieved
  • Travel up to 20%

Required Experience:

  • 4+ years' experience in a manufacturing supply chain or related role
  • Bachelor's in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics or related field, or relevant years of work experience
  • Experienced with international purchasing and planning across multiple sites and tools
  • Experience with an operating budget; collaboration with accounting, finance, and logistics
  • Experience with development of operating strategies, plans, or procedures relating to inventory management
  • Intermediate/Advanced Excel experience and analytical skills
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively build positive relationships with a variety of internal/external stakeholders
  • Have a mindset towards continuous improvement and problem solving
  • Ability to multi-task effectively while balancing workloads to meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Experience:

  • Working knowledge of AS400, JD Edwards, Basic Lean Principles. (is this new program being added)
  • ASCM (Association for Supply Chain Management) CPIM or CSCP is a plus
  • Certification in Six Sigma (at least green belt) is a plus
