As a Researcher Associate, this intermediate-level position will require you to independently conduct more complex studies and analyses, contributing to the advancement of research projects. With greater autonomy, you will design experiments, interpret data, and collaborate with senior researchers to develop and refine research protocols. Your role may also include mentoring junior staff and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research participant contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Initially under full supervision and eventually under minimal-to-moderate supervision, molecularly manipulate stem cells in culture to create and validate an in vitro olfactory organoid model system; compare to vertebrate (zebrafish) olfactory development; participate in lab meetings; collect and analyze data; develop and improve techniques.
- Maintain and propagate human PSCs in culture.
- Differentiate, using established Song lab protocols, PSCs into olfactory organoids. Work with Song and Saxena labs to order and maintain supplies.
- Perform additional experiments, as needed, to compare and validate organoid versus zebrafish neuronal development and function.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or other related field upon starting the position.
- On the job training is available, but candidates with prior experience with cell culture, organoids, and/or molecular/cell biology, even if exposure is only through laboratory coursework, are strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in a basic science lab is a plus.

Hourly Range: %2419.80- %2425.73
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
- OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
