We continue to focus on growing high-quality, nourishing food with respect for the land and our people. We grow a wide variety of organic leafy greens, peppers, cucurbits, tomatoes and more.

We’re hiring for an on-farm Technical Agronomist to join our team based at our Punta Gorda, FL location. In this role, you would be focused on our agronomic programs and practices for all crops. You will be focused on plant health and maximizing yield while understanding the cost/benefit impact of decisions on increasing yields. You would develop and monitor the nutrient program, integrated pest management (IPM), irrigation management, crop handling and storage handling. You will be working cross-functionally with the Farm Managers, General Manager and Packinghouse Manager on crop handling practices, harvest timing and crop health. This role is a key role within the organization reporting to the Owner.

This role is for you if you bring:
  • 5+ years experience with technical agronomy and horticulture knowledge; highly preferred experience in growing a variety of organic vegetable crops on a larger-scale operation
  • Proven prior success in increasing yields with a focus on profitable practices
  • Strong ability to work cross-functionally to make changes within an organization

Scope of Work
  • Develop crop planning and crop rotation for the upcoming year
  • Manage and improve the nutrient program pre-plant through harvest to maximize yield
  • Analyze soil and tissue sample results to determine appropriate action for improvement
  • Ensure all agronomic practices follow organic compliance
  • Develop proactive programs using new and present methods to determine optimal levels of pest control and soil nutrient and biological health
  • Review optimal planting and harvesting methods focused on quality while understanding feasibility and cost/benefit impact of suggested changes
  • Work closely with Farm Managers on irrigation timing
  • Monitor yield progress and assist in yield and harvest timing forecasts
  • Work closely with quality control on in-field handling practices
  • Identify new ground and develop a plan to ensure organic compliance
  • Identify variety trials, develop, and monitor test plots and work with third party universities as needed for on-farm trials
  • Travel between FL, GA and PA
  • Bachelor’s in agronomy, crop and soil sciences, plant pathology, agriculture and/or related field required
  • Minimum 7+ years ofagronomy experience with specialty crops
  • Experience with Integrated Pest Management techniques (IPM)
  • Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) nice-to-have, not required
  • Prior supervisory and leadership experience
  • English-Spanish bilingual, or willingness to train to become bilingual
