Our client supports the United States Air Navy in many mission areas. A significant area is in developing Blue Force Situational Awareness (BFSA) in the radiofrequency (RF) domain. In support of these efforts, the client builds and operates BFSA engineering prototypes, and coordinates with the Signature Management (SIGMAN) Program of Record in transitioning these prototypes into production systems. The client requires one (1) full time Technical Writer to assist with development of formal hardware and software technical documentation, writing manuals and developing Interface Control Documents (ICDs) of software and hardware systems, and in producing Project Reports documenting our research and engineering activities.
Duties include, but not limited to:
• The client seeks a Technical writer to support complex systems-level documentation for software defined systems, RF receivers and real-time control.• Support hardware and software technical documentation for client systems and subsystem drawings schematic diagrams, module hardware diagrams and equipment photographs to be included in the formal technical manuals.• Responsible for ensuring that the organization of all material appearing in the Technical manual, Operator's Manual, System Manual and Software Manual is of the correct content, outline, format, style along with the presentation of text, tables, photographs, line drawings and screen captures.• Support all required equipment views and photographs of new hardware as well as revisions to hardware as they become available for incorporation into the system.• Provide support to incorporate any updated information into the system Operator's Manual using photographs and associated descriptions of control and indicators.• Generate Detailed Block Diagrams and wiring diagrams for various chassis and subsystems.• Generate hardware Functional Block Diagrams (FBDs) of the various chassis and subsystems and updates the block diagrams as needed.• Generate software data flow diagrams such as maps and associated spreadsheets to be incorporated into the Software Manual.• Assist with converting electrical/electronic block diagrams into user-friendly presentations.• Assist with converting contemporaneous notes from field exercises into formal Project Reports documenting and summarizing results.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS• Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance• MS plus 3 years minimum experience, or BS plus 5 years minimum experience• Candidate must have previous experience as a technical writer• Candidate must have experience working with complex systems level design• Previous experience with software defined systems, RF receivers and transmitters, and technical report generation is required• Candidate must be comfortable dealing with technical end users• Strong Excel, Publishing Tools, Web application and office tools is required• Experience with electrical/electronic schematics and mechanical diagrams• Candidates will be expected to bring a portfolio or examples of technical writings to any requested interviews
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Experience using digital cameras is preferred
