Unit Details:
The Interventional Cardiovascular Unit (ICVU) is a 32-bed step-down unit that provides care to patients with general cardiology diagnoses and left ventricular assist devices (LVAD), as well as before and after surgical procedures within the UAB Heart & Vascular Center. This unit features a dynamic atmosphere for nurses to advance their critical thinking skills and technical expertise in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment. ICVU is part of the UAB Cardiovascular Institute, which is consistently ranked among the nationrsquo;s top 50 hospitals for cardiology and heart surgery by U.S. News & World Report. In addition, the Joint Commissionrsquo;s Gold Seal of Approval for ventricular assist devices and Advanced Primary Heart Attack Center designation demonstrates UAB Medicinersquo;s commitment to the highest quality care and safety standards

Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment. Depending on the unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.
