Kymeta is looking for an experienced and talented attorney to support our rapidly growing business and our goal of being the leading producer and operator of electronically steered satellite antennas with the vision of connecting anything that moves.

This position will report directly to the President/Chief Operating Officer and will support the Board of Directors and executive team.  The VP, Legal will be responsible for counseling the business on a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters and resolving issues that arise in all aspects of the business. The ideal candidate will lead corporate strategic and tactical legal initiatives, provide senior management with effective advice on company strategies and their implementation, ensure adherence to state, federal, and international laws, treaties and regulations - all to minimize risk while optimizing the legal processes in support of key business objectives. This leader is also responsible for the ongoing development of the Legal department, ensuring it has the talent and capabilities necessary to support the company’s growth plans.


Strong corporate transactional background with experience negotiating and drafting a variety of complex commercial agreements
Demonstrated excellent team leadership and collaboration skills with internal clients, external collaborators or partners, and other stakeholders
Experience working with senior management and boards of directors, preferably in both public and privately held companies operating in highly regulated commercial environments
Experience in a public company environment with great knowledge and experience in governance, regulatory filings and compliance
Extensive experience in contract law, intellectual property law including patent law and licensing, as well as employment law and regulatory affairs. In addition, she/he will have direct experience with the following areas of law: securities, antitrust, and privacy


Familiarity and understanding of Consumer Protection statutes and regulations at a state and federal level; Consumer Product Safety Commission regulations, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the Securities and Exchange Act of 1934, and the Securities Act of 1933, federal and state employment laws, as well as employment-related tort claims and contract issues
Demonstrated understanding of market challenges, organizational scale requirements, and the legal processes needed to support a rapidly growing company
Balanced and solid judgment in ambiguous and time sensitive situations
Ability to successfully partner with business clients, foster teamwork, and provide outstanding leadership and guidance
Demonstrated ability to hire, develop, and manage a team
Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, both domestically and internationally, including outside attorneys, senior managers, board members and staff
Demonstrated strong communication skills, including written communications, presentations, rapport building, negotiating and influencing skills
Ability to diagnose and solve problems, articulate a plan, and implement solutions


10-15 years of legal experience (minimum of 5 years of experience in a large law firm environment)
Juris Doctor and membership in good standing in at least one state bar is required, Washington is preferred
