Mekiko Cantina is a 4th generation "start-up" Mexican Restaurant with a vision for growth.If you are excited about our mission and passionate about our values, we seek an experienced Executive Chef for our Kapolei, Oahu restaurant. The qualified applicant should have extesive practice as a productive, organized, and caring leader for our high-volume kitchen. You should be confident in building, developing, and maintaining enthusiastic teams. Preferably, you are a current Oahu or Hawaii resident and have 1 or more years of culinary experience. We are looking for a proficient Chef/Asst. Kitchen Manager. Mexican cuisine experience is helpful. Competitive pay with tipping pool included. Desired Responsibilities:· Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities · Help in staffing the kitchen and managing the team· Help to arrange for equipment maintenance and repairs and weekly/monthly deep cleans· Give prepared plates the “final touch”· Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers· Fluent in best practices food control, including daily temp checks and line checks for am/pm shifts· Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county, and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety, cleanliness, and labor requirements of the restaurant, employees, and guests.Skills· Proven working experience as a lead line cook/asst kitchen manager· Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently· Capable of delegating multiple tasks· Communication and leadership skills· Keep up with cooking trends and best practices· Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)· Experience with traditional Mexican Food preferred· Fun-loving, hard-working, and good-natured. This Job Is Ideal for Someone Who Is:· Dependable -- more reliable than spontaneous· People-oriented -- enjoys interacting with people and working on group projects· Adaptable/flexible -- enjoy doing work that requires frequent shifts in direction· Achievement-oriented -- enjoys taking on challenges, even if they might fail· High-stress tolerance -- thrives in a high-pressure environment Job Type: Full-timePay: Starting at $17 and tip poolingCOVID-19 considerations: Mekiko adheres to all local and State requirements pertaining to COVID-19 prevention.JB.0.00.LN
