The Navy Exchange (NEX) sells services and consumer goods to authorized customers, including active duty, reserve, honorably discharged, recipients of the Medal of Honor, those transitioning from the Navy, and retired members of the Navy. There are also some special allowances made for Department of Defense employees stationed outside the U.S. and Red Cross staff members who work with the Navy and are citizens but are working outside the country. An exchange is typically open for shopping to the qualified dependents of approved people as well.
