The Pepsi-Cola Company was founded in 1919 in New Bern, North Carolina. Pepsi Co. started in 1965 when the Pepsi-Cola Company merged with Frito-Lay, Inc. Since the merger, the company continues to grow and add new products to their lineup. In 1998, Pepsi Co. acquired Tropicana, and in 2001, the company merged again with Quaker Oats. During this merger, the company also acquired the Gatorade brand. Pepsi Co. is a worldwide brand, selling thousands of different products in retail stores, restaurants, sporting arenas and other venues. The company's net revenue makes it the second largest manufacturer of food and beverages throughout the world and the largest food and beverage company in North America. As of last year, there were 274,000 employees of the company. They also produce a large number of snack foods, and the sales of these products make up nearly half of the company's revenue each year. The average annual revenue over the past two years is almost $66 billion. The company has its headquarters at Purchase, New York.
