Enid sits in the northern-central part of Oklahoma with nearly 50,000 residents and is the ninth-largest city in the state. Named after a character in a famous collection of Tennyson's poems, Enid is also called the "Queen Wheat City" and the Wheat Capital of Oklahoma. Its grain storage capacity is the third largest in the world. Cost of living is 16 percent lower than the national average. The weather in Enid offers all four seasons, with hot summers and snowy winters and plenty of rainfall in between, which is sometimes accompanied by tornadoes. The annual Tri-State Music Festival started in 1932 and is a popular attraction for both locals and tourists each year.
