<p>The Director of Student Engagement is responsible for developing and managing student engagement programs, activities and services. This role provides direct oversight over all student organizations and activities, including Fraternity and Sorority Life. The Director fosters a vibrant campus culture by promoting student involvement, leadership development, and community building.</p><p><em>This position is on-site in Jackson, MS. Regular work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Must be available and willing to work evening and night hours and occasional weekends, as needed, for student events.</em></p><h3>Job Duties</h3><p><strong>Fraternity & Sorority Life</strong></p><ul><li>Provide oversight and advisement of the National Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council and National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations, including supporting membership recruitment and intake processes.</li><li>Maintain effective relationships with chapter officers, advisors, housing corporation officers, regional advisors and national consultants for each organization.</li><li>Advise fraternity and sorority leaders on program development, policy compliance, risk management, leadership growth, and organizational operations.</li><li>Oversee investigations and resolutions of FSL-related policy violations, ensuring timely and fair outcomes.</li><li>Generate reports as needed and requested.</li></ul><p><strong>Student Activities & Organizations</strong></p><ul><li>Coordinate, plan and execute a comprehensive schedule of student programs and events, including class traditions and social activities.</li><li>Manage the student organization event registration process.</li><li>Provide leadership development opportunities and experiences for student-led organizations, promoting successful event planning, governance and group management.</li><li>Responsible for the student organization registration process.</li><li>Serve as advisor to student organizations as needed.</li></ul><p><strong>Student Development, Supervisory Responsibilities and Related Duties</strong></p><ul><li>Serve as a Student Life Emergency On-Call Manager.</li><li>Adjudicate student behavioral cases as assigned.</li><li>Supervise and mentor student employees, providing clear expectations and professional development opportunities.</li><li>Utilize Colleague, Microsoft Office and other administrative software to manage records and support departmental operations.</li><li>Maintain flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by student programming and events.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Affairs, Guidance and Counseling or a related field is preferred.</li><li>Minimum of 2 years of experience in student leadership is required. At least 2 years of graduate or professional experience in student affairs/student development work is preferred.</li><li>Demonstrated experience in leading student organizations or similar groups.</li><li>Proven ability to manage and oversee multiple programs and activities simultaneously.</li><li>Experience in advising student leaders or employees, providing guidance and support.</li><li>Ability to manage event logistics, including scheduling, budgeting, and promotion.</li><li>Knowledge of policy compliance and risk management within student affairs.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work well with others from a broad range of positions, departments and cultural backgrounds.</li></ul><h3>Physical & Availability Requirements</h3><ul><li>Must be available and willing to work evenings and weekends, as needed, for student events.</li><li>Able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds without assistance.</li><li>Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.</li><li>Manual dexterity needed for keyboarding and other repetitive tasks.</li></ul><h3>Application Procedure</h3><p>Interested candidates should email a copy of their resume and a letter of interest to huntetl@millsaps.edu.
