Maintains a thorough knowledge of the Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Water Act, and related regulations; Ensures departmental compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding laboratory, drinking water, and wastewater systems; Performs training of subordinate personnel at both the water and wastewater treatment facilities; Works with state and federal regulatory personnel; Administers and implements Industrial Pretreatment Program; Performs annual industrial pretreatment inspections of industrial users; Prepares data for state and federal reports; Prepares monitoring reports for submission to the state; Ensures proper collection and preservation of samples; Communicates with the public concerning water treatment systems/water quality concerns and complaints; Prepares water and wastewater reports, spreadsheets, tables, and analytical studies as required; Ensures laboratory compliance with certification requirements; Provides technical instruction to personnel regarding treatment chemical handling and equipment operation. Supervises daily activities of laboratory technicians performing analysis at water and wastewater laboratories; Coordinates and communicates drinking water sampling and compliance events with Water Treatment Systems Superintendent; Coordinates the drinking water systems, groundwater remediation, and deep disposal well sampling; Evaluates and disciplines subordinate personnel and ensures safety is maintained by subordinate personnel; Administers and implements a Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) program.
