High School Student Job Education Requirements

High school student jobs do not normally have a required minimum level of education, but they may require certain skills. For instance, a person might need to prove that he or she has certain skills to get a position, like the ability to give change. Also, because education is not really a requirement, skills are given more weight. For instance, a formal wear store looking to hire a high school student to work with brides and prom gowns is going to have more preference for someone who is friendly and personable than someone who has already graduated high school.

High School Student Job Market

The high school student job market will vary from state to state. Students may have to keep up a minimum GPA to be eligible to work, and they are often restricted in the hours they are allowed to work. High school students can generally not work past midnight and not more than a certain amount of hours on a school day. Also, people under age may not be able to work in certain capacities, like serving alcohol.
