This role includes handling raw materials, feeding the asphalt plant, maintaining stockpiles, and ensuring consistent material flow to meet production and quality standards.</div> Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)<div>Operate a front-end loader to transport and load aggregate materials into the asphalt plant hopper.</div><div>Maintain proper material blending and stockpile management to support production requirements.</div><div>Perform routine pre- and post-operation inspections and basic maintenance of the loader.</div><div>Monitor plant operations and adjust material feed rates as needed to ensure consistent production.</div><div>Assist with plant start-up, shutdown, and cleanout procedures.</div><div>Keep work areas, roadways, and stockpiles clean and organized.</div><div>Work closely with plant operators and crew members to optimize efficiency and output.</div><div>Follow all company safety policies and comply with MSHA/OSHA regulations.Identify and report equipment or operational issues promptly.</div><div>Complete daily production logs, inspection reports, and other documentation as required.</div><div>Perform general labor duties as needed around the plant.</div>  QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience<ul><li>High school diploma or GED preferred.</li><li>1–3 years of experience operating loaders or similar heavy equipment preferred.</li><li>Experience in asphalt or aggregate operations strongly preferred.</li><li>Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Basic mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.Valid driver’s license required; CDL may be preferred.</li><li>Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime, especially during peak paving season.</li></ul> Knowledge/Skill Requirements<ul style="margin-bottom:11px"><li>Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.</li><li>Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.</li><li>Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.</li><li>Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.</li></ul> Certificates, Licenses, Registrations<ul style="margin-bottom:11px"><li>Valid Driver’s License is preferred</li></ul>  Key Competencies<ul style="margin-bottom:11px"><li>Customer Service - Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs. </li><li>Teamwork - Contributes to building a positive team spirit. </li><li>Judgment - Exhibits sound and accurate judgment. </li><li>Planning/Organizing - Uses time efficiently. </li><li>Professionalism - Approaches others in a tactful manner; Reacts well under pressure; Accepts responsibility for own actions. </li><li>Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly. </li><li>Adaptability - Adapts to changes in the work environment; Changes approach or method to best fit the situation; Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events. </li><li>Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time. </li><li>Dependability - Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals. </li><li>Initiative - Asks for and offers help when needed. </li><li>Innovation - Generates suggestions for improving work. </li><li>Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance. </li></ul> Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to signal and handle equipment.
