SUMMARY Bering Straits Development Co., a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a qualified Coffee Shop Assistant Manager for full-time work in Nome, Alaska. As assistant manager, the candidate hired will oversee baristas quality of work, as well as assist in training, report daily operations to overhead, delegate and maintain inventory/supplies in need of restock. The applicant should excel in outstanding customer service, collaborating as a team, and encourage the success of the coffee shop as well as the baristas.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThe Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned. <ul><li>Help manage day-to-day operations of the establishment, ensuring quality service.</li><li>Train new staff in the process of drink preparation, coffee equipment/sanitization and customer service.</li><li>Manage inventory levels and notify overhead of products needed for reorder.</li><li>Collaborate with all team members and recognize individual barista accomplishments.</li><li>Add new menu items regarding customer preferences and seasonal events.</li><li>Delegate tasks to baristas based on the manager’s instructions.</li><li>Maintain point of sale system and contribute to establishments sales.</li><li>Able to jump into barista role as needed based on staffing needs.</li><li>Perform additional tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the establishment.</li></ul>QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications <ul><li>At least 2 years retail and customer service experience.</li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.</li><li>Respond well to instructions and helpful feedback.</li><li>Minimum High School or GED.</li></ul>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics <ul><li>Basic financial management skills including budgeting and sales tracking.</li><li>Hands-on experience with professional coffee machines (understanding general maintenance & upkeep)</li><li>Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices regarding expiration dates and quality control.</li><li>Ability to work full time, including variable hours such as early mornings, evenings, and weekends.</li></ul>NECESSARY PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Exposure to hot water and cleaning chemicals or solvents. Occasional use of computer, keyboard, mouse and telephone system.
