Summary This position is located with Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), in Transmission Strategy and Business Management (TAS), Transmission Chief of Staff (TA), Transmission Services (T). A successful candidate in the Transmission Student Program Manager position will manage Transmission's Student Program consistent with Transmission and BPA strategic objectives. Responsibilities As a Transmission Student Program Manager, you will: Plan, lead, and implement the Transmission Student Program: Define requirements, monitor performance, and provide oversight of contractor activities when necessary. Ensure all Transmission Student Program strategies, policies, and operations are fully integrated and coordinated within other BPA programs and activities. Plan, coordinate and monitor critical strategic activities and special projects assigned by the TAS Supervisor or Transmission Chief of Staff. Plan and conduct annual Student Program assessments to identify program issues/problems and improvements. Research and recommend new and improved methods and procedures for application within Transmission's Student Program Represent Transmission's Student Program in working directly with executive-level personnel, managers and staff in BPA, state and local institutions; private industry; or public groups. Evaluate and make recommendations concerning overall plans and proposals for Transmission's Student Program relating to major BPA projects and implementing national level guidance in standards, guidelines, or policies for programs impacting Transmission's Student Program program elements. The Bonneville Power Administration is a federal nonprofit agency based in the Pacific Northwest. Although BPA is part of the U.S. Department of Energy, it is self-funding and covers its costs by selling its products and services. BPA markets wholesale electrical power from 31 federal hydro projects in the Columbia River Basin, one non-federal nuclear plant and several other small non-federal power plants. The dams are operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Bureau of Reclamation. About one-third of the electric power used in the Northwest comes from BPA.

BPA also operates and maintains about three-fourths of the high-voltage transmission in its service territory. BPA’s service territory includes Idaho, Oregon, Washington, western Montana and small parts of eastern Montana, California, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming.
As part of its responsibilities, BPA promotes energy efficiency, renewable resources and new technologies. The agency also funds regional efforts to protect and rebuild fish and wildlife populations affected by hydroelectric power development in the Columbia River Basin.
