Tyler Pierson did his doctoral training at Baylor College of Medicine (advisor: Bert O'Malley, MD) and pediatric neurology training at CHOP/University of Pennsylvania, followed by a clinical fellowship in the Neurogenetics Branch of NINDS at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The research goal of the Pierson laboratory is to model neurogenetic disease with patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells in order to understand the disease mechanisms associated with pediatric neurodevelopment and neurodegenerative disorders.
