Best companies for LGBTQ workers
Find a job—and an ally—on this massive list of companies hiring that care about equality for the LGBTQ community.
Workplace equality is improving, but some employees, unfortunately, still face discrimination because of their sexual orientation and gender identity.
Of course, from a job seeker’s perspective, there are many good reasons to seek out employers with diverse workforces, but the most important one is the way the employees are treated. Everyone should feel like their workplace is a safe space (and if that’s not the case, you definitely need to keep reading).
In its annual Corporate Equality Index, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC) rated companies based on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) equality. The CEI rating criteria have four key pillars:
- Non-discrimination policies across business entities
- Equitable benefits for LGBTQ workers and their families
- Internal education and accountability metrics to promote LGBTQ inclusion competency
- Public commitment to LGBTQ equality
The report rates 1,084 businesses—344 of which are on the Fortune 500 list—a record-breaking 609 of those received a top rating of 100%, the majority of which are hiring on Monster right now. For comparison, the first Index in 2002 saw only 13 businesses with a perfect score.
