About Community Substance Abuse Centers
Community Substance Abuse Centers (CSAC) is a privately owned corporation offering outpatient services that specializes in the treatment of narcotic addiction. As a privately owned corporation, CSAC has a structure similar to many privately owned medical and doctor’s offices. The major focus is maintaining a strong commitment to high quality and compassionate care to substance abusing patients.
Mission
Organizational Philosophy CSAC maintains a strong commitment to providing high-quality, cost-effective care that treats all individuals with the utmost dignity and respect. We realize that this commitment can only be achieved through the recruitment and retention of competent and qualified employees. Recognizing these essential points, we seek to foster a work environment that supports the diversity, health, and growth of each employee. Our personnel policies and practices reflect this philosophical approach in our efforts to lead the organization toward the realization of our goals and objectives.
Patient Care Philosophy
CSAC maintains a strong commitment to high-quality, cost-effective treatment to the substance abusing patient. Our goal is to provide prompt, professional, and effective services to assist patients in dealing with problems that are both directly and indirectly related to substance abuse. We offer integrated medical and counseling approaches grounded in an individualized recovery-oriented philosophy that treats addiction as a biopsycholocial disease.
Accreditation
CSAC has a commitment to excellence that has been acknowledged by the international accrediting body, Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). These CARF audits have resulted in the highest ratings of a three (3) year accreditation at all of our facilities. To become a CARF-accredited service provider, an organization must demonstrate conformance to proven standards for business practices and be committed to continuous quality improvement. CARF accreditation is evidence that our organization strives to improve efficiency, fiscal health, and service delivery -- creating a foundation for consumer satisfaction.
Treatment
CSAC provides integrated medical and counseling approaches grounded in an individualized recovery oriented philosophy that treats addiction as a bio-psychosocial disease. These services include pharmacological treatment with methadone and other medications in combination with individual, group and family counseling. Treatment is individualized and driven by objective goals. HIV/AIDS screening, education, and counseling services are provided for all patient/consumers. Patient/consumers are encouraged to participate in self-help programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous, and the program utilizes self-help principles in treatment. The philosophy of care recognizes addiction as a primary disease, emphasizes the need for compassion, and encourages a drug-free lifestyle.
Staffing
The CSAC treatment team consists of multidisciplinary professionals who are committed to serving the needs of the addicted patient consumer. The treatment team is led by the Medical Director, who has been board certified in both addiction medicine and emergency medicine; and by a Chief Medical Officer, who is board certified in psychiatry with added qualifications in addictions psychiatry. The professional staff includes physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, counselors, case managers, and support staff: each staff member brings valuable experience and training with appropriate certification. The staff is also culturally and linguistically diverse, allowing effective communication and sensitivity to all patient consumers. To respond to patient consumer care issues, staff is available 24 hours a day.
Licensure
Each program is certified, regulated, and reviewed by the federal Center for Substance Abuse Treatment and Drug Enforcement Administration as well as licensed by each state’s licensing body including the Board of Pharmacy where required. Each program is also monitored by the state’s methadone authority and drug control agencies.
