Houston Responds

With the onslaught of Hurricane Harvey, a grassroots response from local churches formed across the Houston metroplex to help with rescue, recovery and rebuilding. These informal networks moved quickly into action to partner with local relief agencies, gaining the praise of the Houston mayor, Texas governor and USA Today. HOUSTON RESPONDS was then formed to optimize these networks and integrate with the larger city effort. By sharing best practices, facilitating training and communication across the geographical region and helping develop critical partnerships, HOUSTON RESPONDS is creating an efficient model to mobilize churches for disaster response in this and future disasters.
