About Maine Seacoast Mission
From flu shots for fishermen to food for families and life-changing opportunities for kids, the Maine Seacoast Mission makes lives better Downeast. Based in Bar Harbor, Maine, near Acadia National Park, we are a highly respected, 110-year-old nonprofit providing educational, medical, social services, and nondenominational spiritual support to the people of this exceptionally beautiful region of the eastern United States. Many of our services are delivered via the Sunbeam V, a 74-foot, steel-hulled ship equipped with the latest telemedicine technology. In all that we do, we operate in a spirit of mutual trust and respect, and are committed to the capacity of individuals and communities to determine their own futures.
The Mission’s administrative offices are located in Bar Harbor, while most land-based services are offered from our 60-acre campus in Cherryfield. We have an operating budget of $3.5 million and 29 full-time and 75 part-time staff members. Most of our part-time employees work in the EdGE program, providing afterschool, in-school, and summer programs for children in seven Washington County schools.
