The Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) project is designing and will be constructing an astronomical telescope with a segmented primary mirror diameter of 30 meters. When complete the TMT will be the largest ground-based optical/infrared telescope in the world, providing the capability to study exciting astronomical questions ranging from the nature of extra-solar planets to revealing the first stars in the universe.
