Earn $1,800 Per Week Preparing Sushi at a High-Volume Waterfront Restaurant on Shelter Island

SALT Shelter Island is seeking an experienced Sushi Cook to maintain and execute the restaurant’s established sushi program during the busy East End season.

This role focuses on preparing high-quality sushi using fresh seafood and seasonal ingredients while maintaining strong food safety, consistency, and station organization.

The Sushi Cook will also assist with training kitchen staff on sushi menu preparation and support ordering and inventory related to the sushi station.

Housing is available, making this an attractive opportunity for experienced sushi cooks from NYC and surrounding regions seeking a focused seasonal role.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sushi and sashimi using high-quality seafood and ingredients
• Maintain consistency and presentation standards for sushi menu items
• Follow written recipes and preparation instructions
• Support ordering, receiving, and inventory management
• Maintain cleanliness and organization at the sushi station
• Assist with training staff on sushi preparation techniques
• Follow food safety and sanitation procedures
• Work efficiently during high-volume service

Qualifications

• 2+ years of sushi preparation experience
• Strong knife skills and fish preparation knowledge
• Experience with ordering, receiving, and inventory preferred
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen
• Strong attention to detail and consistency
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
• English required; Spanish a plus
