Since 2010, Amani Public Charter School has been a cornerstone of the Mount Vernon community, providing 5th–8th grade students with the academic skills and character development needed to succeed in competitive high school programs, college, and beyond. As we continue to empower our middle school scholars, we are seeking dynamic and passionate educators to join our team for the 2025-2026 school year.

The Role
Middle school teachers at Amani are classroom leaders who inspire and engage students in their academic journeys. Teachers are responsible for fostering an environment of high expectations, critical thinking, and academic rigor while building strong relationships with students and their families.

We are hiring teachers in the following subjects for the 2025-2026 school year:

• English Language Arts (ELA)
• Mathematics
• Special Education
• Social Studies
• Science
• Physical Education

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver rigorous, engaging, and differentiated lessons aligned to New York State Standards.
• Use formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
• Foster a structured, positive classroom environment that reflects Amani’s core values and high expectations.
• Build relationships with families through consistent and transparent communication.
• Collaborate with colleagues in data-driven planning meetings, weekly professional development, and interdisciplinary team projects.
• Contribute to grade-level and schoolwide activities and events.

Schedule and Location

• School day: 7:45 AM–4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
• School year: Second week of August through end of June.
• On-site role in Mount Vernon, NY.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related subject area.
• NYS Teaching Certification preferred but not required.
• Previous teaching experience with middle-school-aged students preferred.
• Proficiency in Google Suite and Google Classroom.
• Passion for creating equitable and inclusive learning environments.
