Position Summary
The Fine Arts Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, standards-based instruction in performing arts to elementary school students. The teacher fosters creativity, self-expression, and appreciation for the arts while supporting the school''s mission and promoting a positive, inclusive learning environment. This is a part-time (.5 FTE) position serving students in grades PreK-5.
Essential Responsibilities
Instruction and Curriculum
- Plan and deliver high-quality fine arts instruction aligned with state and district standards.
- Develop lessons that promote creativity, artistic skills, critical thinking, and cultural appreciation.
- Integrate a variety of artistic techniques, materials, and media into instruction.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Incorporate opportunities for student choice, collaboration, and performance or exhibition of student work.
Student Learning and Assessment
- Assess student progress using a variety of formal and informal measures.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement and participation.
- Use assessment data to inform instructional planning and improve student outcomes.
Learning Environment
- Establish a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture.
- Promote positive student behavior and engagement.
- Maintain and organize instructional materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Ensure the proper care and use of art materials and equipment.
Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives as appropriate.
- Contribute to school events, performances, exhibitions, and celebrations that showcase student learning.

- Engage in ongoing professional learning related to arts education and instructional practices.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Qualifications
- Bachelor''s degree
- Appropriate Massachusetts teaching licensure in Dance or Theatre
- Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Commitment to fostering creativity and a love of the arts in all students.
