Helping Students Find Their Voice and Their Future
Secondary English classrooms hold a different kind of conversation. Students walk in carrying opinions, questions, frustrations, humor, or stories they are still figuring out how to tell. This work asks you to meet them there. Some days revolve around discussion. Other days are quieter, with students bent over notebooks or trying to make sense of a text that suddenly connects to something real in their own lives. The classroom becomes a place where students learn how to think carefully, communicate honestly, and stay engaged when the work feels hard.
At Nine Mile Falls School District, English teachers are trusted to build classrooms where students feel known and where learning has purpose beyond a grade. You work alongside colleagues who share ideas freely, notice when someone needs support, and stay focused on what students need to move forward. The role carries responsibility, though there is also room for your personality, your teaching style, and the relationships that develop across a school year. What you do each day helps students grow more confident in their voice and more willing to believe their ideas matter.
Lakeside High School is a high school where people know each other well. Staff work closely together, and students are not treated like strangers passing through the building. The district is seeking an educator who can create a classroom that feels steady, thoughtful, and welcoming to students at different points in their learning. Some students arrive already confident in English. Others are still trying to believe they belong in the conversation. This role matters because both students walk through the same door every day and deserve a classroom where they can keep growing.
