A reasonable full‑time annual salary estimate for this position is $122,272–$152,674.Position DescriptionThe Academic Coordinator (working title: Executive Director of the Korea Law Center) will manage the day‑to‑day operations of the Korea Law Center and will lead a research hub dedicated to legal scholarship and professional exchange between South Korea and the United States. The mission is to study and promote solutions to issues arising at the intersection of U.S. and Korean law, building on the Center's achievements since 2009 and fostering existing and new relationships.ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership: develop and implement the center's vision to advance its mission and goals; manage the center's programs and cultivate academic and institutional partnerships.Partnership Management: serve as the liaison representative to academic institutions, government bodies, law firms, judges, and lawyers in both Korea and the United States.Fundraising & Operations: manage center finances, personnel (including visiting scholars and an administrative staff member), and fundraising efforts; develop extramural funding proposals and identify necessary support resources.Programming & Events: organize conferences and programs for visiting scholars, practitioners, judges, students, and others.Communications & Outreach: lead communications to maintain a high‑profile presence for the Korea Law Center.The Executive Director will also build relationships with top Korean law firms, businesses, and conglomerates; help establish new programs such as a law and diplomacy initiative; build and work with a board of prominent advisors; and engage in outreach to the Orange County and Korean communities. The Executive Director will ensure financial stability through formalized partnerships, continue the visiting scholars program, and support Korean students earning LL.M. degrees.Requirements• Law degree (J.D. or LL.M.) from an ABA‑accredited law school.• Proven leadership, managerial, and fundraising skills.• Deep knowledge of Korean law, legal systems, and/or international legal collaborations.• Strong communication skills (proficiency in English and Korean is required).• Prior experience developing U.S.–Korea partnerships is highly desirable.Nature of AppointmentThe Executive Director reports to the Dean of the Law School and potentially other senior leaders. The position is a full‑time, twelve‑month academic appointment with the standard vacation and benefits package accorded to employees of the University of California. Residence during the summer is expected.
