  • Adjunct- Electrical Systems Technology Salary Depends on Qualifications Location Troy, NC Job Type Adjunct Job Number 00151 Division Instruction & Student Services Department Career & Technical Opening Date 03/20/2026 Closing Date Continuous Description Benefits Position Description The Adjunct Instructor in Electrical Systems Technology provides instruction in courses related to electrical and industrial systems. Instruction may take place in a classroom, laboratory, seated, or online formats. The instructor is responsible for planning lessons, delivering lectures and hands-on training, and assessing student learning while supporting student success in technical education. Essential Responsibilities Provides oversight of curricular content related to program coordination, including but not limited to the following: Provides instruction that introduces students to the discipline of study. Develop course syllabi, outlines, and lesson plans for curriculum courses assigned. Review and select appropriate textbooks, instructional materials, and media for the classes to be taught. Develops lectures, classroom activities, and hands-on exercises for students to participate in and learn. Monitors and records student progress in courses. Administers tests or other evaluation methods to students. Keeps records of student attendance. Create an effective learning environment. Keep current with information and skills in the respective teaching field. Comply with college policies, internal audit procedures, and local and state rules and regulations. Perform any other duties as assigned. Teach short-term Continuing Education courses. Availability to teach weekend classes as needed, based on program demand and scheduling requirements. Qualifications & Degree Requirements An associate's degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Technology, or a closely related field is required. Relevant industry experience in electrical systems, industrial maintenance, or electrical installation. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related discipline. Experience in supervision, fiscal management, and human resource management. Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience in higher education or workforce development. Experience with industrial automation, PLCs, motor controls, and electrical troubleshooting. Physical Demands: Sitting or standing for extended periods of time while performing administrative tasks, attending meetings, conducting classroom observations, or performing classroom instruction. Frequent walking across campus to meet with faculty, attend events, conduct evaluations, and participate in committee activities is required. Regular use of hands and fingers for computer work, document preparation, and the use of office equipment. Occasional lifting or carrying of instructional materials, equipment, or supplies weighing up to approximately 20 pounds. Clear speech and hearing are required to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.
