Position Summary
Victoria Colleges Workforce & Continuing Education Department is accepting applications for Part-Time Adjunct instructors to facilitate Welding courses Monday through Thursday. Training is held on an as-needed basis. Courses are held during the day and/or in the evenings.
Salary
Based on Instructional Units (one instructional unit is equivalent to 16 contact hours per semester).
$655.67 per instructional unit in the Fall/Spring/Summer.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development and Delivery: Designing and implementing welding curricula that meet industry standards and student needs, including developing lesson plans, practical exercises, and assessments.
- Instruction: Delivering engaging and informative lectures and hands-on training sessions in various welding processes (e.g., MIG, TIG, stick welding).
- Student Assessment: Evaluating student performance through practical examinations, assignments, and other assessments, providing constructive feedback and support for improvement.
- Safety and Maintenance: Maintaining a safe and organized training environment, ensuring compliance with industry safety regulations and protocols, and maintaining equipment.
- Collaboration: Collaborating with industry partners to ensure curriculum relevance and staying abreast of industry advancements.
- Mentorship: Mentoring and guiding junior instructors, providing support in instructional strategies and techniques.
Qualifications
- Required:
- 8 years full-time welding experience OR Certificate/Associates Degree in welding and 5 years full-time welding experience OR Bachelors Degree and 3 years full-time welding experience.
- Preferred:
- Certified Welding Instructor
- NCCER Instructor
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, keypads, etc. Will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as sit, stand, and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds while loading office supplies and paper.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screen. Hearing of light to moderate sound is required by this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
