POSITION OVERVIEW
Harbor Health is seeking a team-oriented Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (PRN) to join our multi-specialty clinic group in Austin, TX. As a clinical leader within our primary care setting, you will provide effective, efficient, and appropriate services to our members while demonstrating safe clinical decision-making and expert care. You will work collaboratively with our clinical practice team to deliver exceptional care that aligns with our mission of transforming healthcare through our payvider model. The APP will provide acute and urgent care services to members across a broad range of presentations, ensuring timely, compassionate, and evidence-based treatment in an Express Care setting at our Round Rock, North University and Onion Creek locations. One Saturday per month is required at our Round Rock Express Care location.
POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate, diagnose, and treat members presenting with acute, urgent, and episodic medical conditions in an Express Care setting
Obtain comprehensive medical histories and perform thorough physical examinations
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, laboratory results, and imaging as clinically appropriate
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in alignment with evidence-based clinical guidelines
Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions within scope of practice
Educate members and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care
Collaborate with the broader Harbor Health care team to ensure appropriate referrals, care coordination, and continuity of care
Accurately and efficiently document all clinical encounters in the electronic health record (EHR) system
Adhere to all regulatory, compliance, and credentialing requirements
Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, member safety, and clinical quality
Maintain flexibility to support clinic operations on a PRN basis as scheduling needs arise
DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Texas
Board certification required (AANP, ANCC, NCCPA, or equivalent)
DEA license and prescriptive authority in Texas
Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, family medicine, or a related ambulatory care setting preferred
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills
Experience working with diverse member populations across age groups
Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to build trust with members quickly
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications:
At least 2 years of experience in ambulatory care, urgent care, or emergency medicine settings as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Proficiency with electronic medical record systems
Bilingual in English/Spanish
Work Environment:
PRN scheduling with flexibility for 5 shifts per month - one Saturday per month is required
12-hour shift availability
