Area Director of SalesSalary Range: $110,000–$130,000 per year. Final compensation will be based on the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, and business needs.Job OverviewThe Area Director of Sales & Marketing directs all sales and marketing activities for Sheraton McKinney Hotel and TownePlace Suites McKinney, with responsibility for maximizing occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and overall profitability. This role develops and implements annual sales and marketing plans, manages departmental budgets and forecasts, analyzes market trends and competitive performance, and identifies new revenue opportunities within the McKinney and North Texas markets.Key ResponsibilitiesLead all group, corporate, extended‑stay, and local business sales efforts for both properties.Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, community organizations, and tourism partners.Conduct site tours, prepare customized proposals, negotiate contracts, and oversee the successful conversion of business opportunities.Monitor STAR reports, booking pace, market demand, and other performance metrics to adjust sales strategies and achieve revenue goals.Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate sales team members while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and guest‑focused service.Work closely with the General Managers, Revenue Management, and Operations teams to align sales strategies with operational capabilities and guest expectations.Ensure compliance with Marriott brand standards, company policies, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.Represent Sheraton McKinney Hotel and TownePlace Suites McKinney at industry events, networking functions, and community activities to enhance brand visibility and generate new business opportunities.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or a related field preferred. Five (5) or more years of progressive sales leadership experience, with hospitality industry experience strongly preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of driving revenue growth, achieving financial objectives, and leading high‑performing sales teams while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic sales initiatives that drive revenue growth and achieve financial objectives. Strong analytical and business acumen with the ability to interpret market trends, analyze financial data, and make sound business decisions. Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills, with a customer‑focused approach to developing tailored sales solutions. Proven leadership skills with the ability to recruit, coach, motivate, and develop high‑performing teams while effectively managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Maintains professionalism, integrity, diplomacy, and confidentiality in all interactions. Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of adapting to hotel sales and revenue management systems. Ability to travel as business needs require.Working Conditions and Physical EffortThis position is primarily performed in a professional office and hotel environment, with regular travel between Sheraton McKinney Hotel and TownePlace Suites McKinney, as well as occasional local travel for client meetings, networking events, and community functions. The role requires extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, and operating standard office equipment, including a computer and telephone. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required for sales materials, displays, or event equipment.
