Feedback from MGR on resumes she reviewed and interviews on what is missing from candidates or what she is looking for:

    • Less electricians: electricians do not test low voltage cable cores.
    • Ship yard hydraulic testing is not transferable to this role.
    • Need pressure testing experience between 5,000PSI to 25,000PSI.
    • Fiber experience should be heavily based in fusion splicing and perform OTDR testing through these fusion splices.
    • Most of the fiber experience is setting up networks in large stores and troubleshooting connection issues and not performing actual testing.

The F.A.T. Technician performs factory authorized (FAT) or verification testing and related tasks for the completion of OSS Umbilicals & Products. The ideal candidate possesses both a high level of technical expertise and an innate passion for quality. You will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity and safety of our product delivery to the Infotree.

Essential skills and functions to be possessed & demonstrated:

    • Perform fiber optic testing & splicing (Outside Plant Certified)
    • Perform low voltage (1000V) cable testing & medium voltage (6000V+) cable testing
    • Conduct resistance, insulation resistance, crosstalk/attenuation, impedance, resistance, and high potential testing
    • Measure resistance, continuity, voltage using test equipment
    • Perform & assist in hydrostatic pressure testing of SDSS umbilicals & DE products (10,000-30,000psi)
    • Set up specialized equipment, perform leak checks by using appropriate equipment and procedures, and verify check completion
    • Operation and basic maintenance of high pressure water jet & hydratron pumps
    • Record all pertinent data, ensure correct digital recording methods are used
    • Setup digital recording of pressure tests (CompactRIO, NI equipment, pressure transducers, etc)
    • Ability to troubleshoot product and test equipment
    • Knowledgeable about pumps and manifolds
    • Ability to read and interpret schematics (electrical / fiber optic / hydraulic)
    • Knowledgeable about fittings, pressure ratings and proper engagement
    • Interpret test data (plots, graphs, tabulated parameters) to choose pass/fail condition and resolve when further analysis is needed
    • Identify and document non-conformance records (NCRs) and coordinate improvements, escalate as needed
    • Understand, report, and review tool status
    • Support a safe work environment by following safe work practices, adhering to safety guidelines, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and following lockout tagout (LOTO) policies and procedures
    • Provide timely clear communication to appropriate stakeholders including production status, tasks completed, detailed descriptions, continuous improvement ideas, and shift pass downs
