Shift Details:
M-F/ 9am-5pm
Bookkeeper Duties & Responsibilities:
Process payroll in compliance with policies, regulations, and Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs).
Analyze, audit, and reconcile payroll data to ensure accurate and timely processing.
Handle complex payroll transactions, including tax corrections, replacement checks, refunds, duplicate payments, and payment adjustments.
Independently recalculate pay, deductions, and taxes to ensure accurate employee compensation.
Review and implement CBA provisions and New York State/City payroll requirements.
Prioritize and manage payroll workflows while auditing data from multiple University entities and payroll systems.
Partner with HR Business Partners and managers to ensure payroll compliance and meet deadlines.
Resolve employee and client concerns using sound judgment and effective customer service.
Identify and improve payroll processes and client interactions for greater efficiency and accuracy.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.
Bachelor's degree required.
One (1) year minimum experience working in a professional office setting,
Computer proficiency using web-based HRIS, payroll, financial and administrative systems; MS Office Suite (Access and Word) with strong Excel skills; SharePoint, Dropbox, plus virtual meeting/conferencing and collaboration tools (MS Teams, Zoom).
Knowledge of job titles, classification systems, and coding structures in either NYC or NYS payroll systems.
Additional certifications may be required.
