Description

Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits provided to regular Board of Regents or Civil Service employees. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• *Convert the GIS-based suitability analysis results for the potential of land-based aquaculture for Oahu into an online map service.
• *Extend the GIS-based suitability analysis to the other islands of Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, and the Big Island of Hawaii.
• *Add the GIS-based suitability analysis results of the other islands to the online map services created for Oahu.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Master's degree in Natural Resource Management or a related field from a college or university of recognized standing.
• Familiarity with basic concepts of GIS.
• Familiarity with basic techniques and operations of GIS.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct GIS data and overlay analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
• Demonstrated ability to pay attention to details.
• Professionalism in meeting and conferring with others.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Familiarity with the operations of ArcGIS Pro
• Familiarity with online map design and publishing with the ArcGIS Online platform
• Familiarity with handling various data types and data management
• Experience working with aquaculture GIS such as fishponds and hydrology data
• Experience working with land use ordinances and TMK
