Description

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES (NOTE: *denotes Essential Functions):

  • *Serves as a member of the UH eSports team which oversees, manages and maintains the UH eSports programs and events.
  • *Serves as the Tournament Organizer (TO) for an upcoming Valorant events, including monitoring and managing event operations to ensure the competition runs smoothly from start to finish.
  • *Assists with building rulebooks, structuring match formats (e.g. Swiss, single, or double elimination), managing schedules, and drafting lobby instructions to keep team aligned.
  • *Provides continuous oversight during tournament event, including tracking real-time scores, managing brackets, resolving dispute scenarios quickly and effectively, and drafting clear announcement for players and viewers
  • *Assists with delivering high-quality broadcast of event to the larger community
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possession of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and 1 year of experience in eSports.
  • Functional knowledge of esports tournament operations, including tournament formats, brackets, rules, scheduling, match procedures, and competitive event workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience with competitive gaming and esports environments, preferably including familiarity with VALORANT or similar team-based competitive games.
  • Functional knowledge of tournament rules and procedures, including the ability to interpret and consistently apply rules, policies, and competition standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain tournament documentation, including rulebooks, match procedures, schedules, lobby instructions, and participant guidance.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage tournament brackets and match schedules, including Swiss, single-elimination, and double-elimination formats.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and resolve tournament-related issues and disputes in a timely, consistent, and professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple matches, deadlines, participants, and operational requirements simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with tournament staff, production personnel, players, teams, and other event stakeholders to support successful event execution.
  • Ability to work a variable work schedule; and work outside normally scheduled work hours including day, night, weekend and/or holiday hours as directed.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience supporting esports programs or competitive gaming events within a higher education environment.
