This is an exciting opportunity to work on impactful roadway and infrastructure projects that enhance mobility, safety, and connectivity across one of the most heavily traveled transportation networks in the state.The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and confident in the field. You will play a key role in ensuring construction work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project plans and specifications while working closely with engineers, contractors, and project teams.WHAT YOU'LL DOPerform daily field inspections of roadway, drainage, utility, and transportation infrastructure construction activitiesMonitor contractor operations to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and contract requirementsInspect materials and workmanship to verify adherence to quality standardsMaintain detailed daily reports documenting labor, equipment, materials, and site conditionsTrack installed quantities and assist with verification for contractor paymentsCoordinate with engineers, contractors, and project teams to address field issues and maintain project progressObserve testing of construction materials and installations to ensure compliance with specificationsAttend field meetings and communicate construction progress, issues, and resolutionsMaintain accurate photographic and written documentation of construction activitiesSupport a safe work environment by monitoring contractor compliance with jobsite safety requirementsQUALIFICATIONSNICET Level II or III Certification or a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related fieldMinimum 5+ years of construction inspection experience on transportation or roadway infrastructure projectsExperience working within NYSDOT Region 10 strongly preferredStrong understanding of roadway construction practices, materials, and inspection proceduresAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documentsExperience preparing daily reports, quantity calculations, and field documentationStrong communication and coordination skills for working with contractors, engineers, and project teamsFamiliarity with construction documentation systems and field reporting toolsValid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the Long Island regionWe offer not only a competitive salary but also a robust benefits package including enrollment in our 401(k)-retirement savings plan, comprehensive dental, health, and vision insurance coverage, as well as life insurance.
