Childcare Foodservice Associate

POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Food Service Attendant works closely with the program staff to provide quality nutrition offerings by delivering and serving hot lunch and snacks to program participants on a daily basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provides quality customer service and follows all health department guidelines to help maintain a healthy and safe environment for children in the program.
• Washing dishes, cleaning and organization of kitchen
• Preparation of meals and snacks.
• Preparation and heating of food as instructed.
• Obtaining proper meal counts.
• Follow established Procedures and Safety Precautions.
• Other duties deemed necessary by supervisor

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Reliable and punctual attendance
• Ability to interact respectfully with children and coworkers
• Possess good judgment and common sense

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Frequent repetitive motion with hands and upper body related to food preparation activities.
• Occasional standing and walking (average 10 foot– 15 foot) in kitchen areas.
• Occasional bending and lifting (average 20 times per day) of bulk foods, food bins and hot food caddies: bulk food items are lifted from the floor and weigh 10-50 lbs. each, food bins weigh 30 – 70 lbs., are lifted from floor and work tables and loaded into vans.
• Occasional crouching to retrieve items from lower shelves. Regular reaching occurs to retrieve utensils and food items from storage shelves and cupboards up to 8 foot high.
