Communications Manager
The Community Relations Department has an opening for a Communications Manager. The work involves the responsibility for performing communications, public relations and marketing work using many types of media. An employee in this class creates written and/or visual content for the public on a broad range of county programs, projects, activities and services. The work is responsible for maintaining and updating the Orange County website to ensure that all information is current, accurate and accessible. The work performs daily functions of updating the home page, editing, and posting as needed. Work may involve broad contact with the public, local government officials, civic organizations and the media which requires tact and diplomacy. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Community Relations Director with leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work, and in making decisions regarding client needs and requests and conducting project assignments. Supervision is not the responsibility of this class but may serve as a team lead in communication activities. Position does related work as required. Work location 300 W. Tryon Street Hillsborough NC. This position will serve as a liaison with the county's Human Services departments (including Social Services, Health, and Housing). A background check is required.
