    Controls Design Engineer

    Tiffin, Ohio

    A well-established, premier manufacturer is seeking a Controls Design Engineer to join their electrical design engineering team and will spend 40% of the time on PLC programming and 20% of the time on electrical design. This role reports to the Electrical Design Engineering Manager. You will be responsible for the following tasks:

    • Partner with a Senior Engineer to learn product and processes
    • Programmable logic controller programming using Allen Bradley PLC platforms
    • Manage multiple engineering projects and partner with mechanical engineers to complete machine design concepts
    • Responsible for control panel and electrical hardware design
    • Once trained, manage 1-6 design projects at a time
    • Make design changes to equipment designs
    • Create bill of materials for design projects
    • Make customized modifications to established designs
    • Assist sales and customer service department with technical electrical expertise related to customer needs and quotations
    • Communicate with customers on equipment needs and preferences
    • Other duties directed by management


    Candidates should enjoy working at a desk 90% of the time and being a contributor within a team-oriented environment. Qualified candidates will be detail oriented, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to work on multiple projects at a time.     REQUIREMENTS for the Controls Design Engineer:
    1. Minimum of an Associate's degree; a Bachelor's degree is highly preferred
    2. Depending on education, at least three years of experience performing similar functions at an OEM or machine integrator
    3. PLC programming
    4. Electrical design, including panels and panel layout
    5. Microsoft Office

    Skills preferred but NOT required:
    1. VFD and servo control design

    2. Strong project management

    3. Allen Bradley PLCs
