Job Overview:
Search Solution Group is seeking a Cost Accountant on behalf of our client, a company specializing in the wholesale distribution of construction supplies, including garage doors. This role is responsible for managing cost accounting functions related to inventory, work orders, project tracking, and variance analysis to ensure accurate product costing and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing cost accounting experience, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with operations and leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities:

• Process and analyze daily work orders to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Collaborate with shop floor personnel to identify and eliminate work order errors.
• Pull and analyze labor hour data to calculate units per labor hour on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• Prepare monthly journal entries and assist with profit and loss (P&L) reviews.
• Participate in Product Council meetings to review project costing and tracking.
• Maintain inventory ledger/general ledger (IL/GL) integrity.
• Conduct obsolete inventory analysis and reporting.
• Perform variance analysis and investigate discrepancies.
• Review purchase price variance (PPV) reports weekly and monthly.
• Track and report costs associated with projects and manufacturing operations.
• Complete annual standard cost roll processes.
• Prepare cost quotes for district managers, vice presidents, and field personnel.
• Calculate and present monthly product cost reports to Purchasing, Sales, and company leadership.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company policies.
• Support additional accounting and operational projects as assigned.

Requirements Include:Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required.

Experience:

• 3-5 years of manufacturing cost accounting experience required.
• Experience working in inventory and project cost analysis environments preferred.
• Experience with integrated computerized financial accounting systems required.

Skills:

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to interpret financial and operational data accurately.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and other Office applications.

Certifications:

• CPA or CMA certification is a plus but not required.

Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of manufacturing cost accounting principles.
• Knowledge of inventory management and perpetual inventory systems.
• Familiarity with variance analysis, standard costing, and PPV reporting.
• Understanding of financial reporting and general ledger processes.
• Experience with integrated ERP/accounting systems preferred.
