As a fourth-generation family farm, we're proud to care for over 130 Holstein cows while producing the milk used in our farm-fresh products enjoyed throughout Rhode Island.We're looking for an experienced Herd Manager who is passionate about dairy cattle, enjoys leading people, and wants to make a lasting impact on a progressive, family-owned operation.This is more than a herd management position, it's an opportunity to lead, develop a team, and help shape the future of one of New England's most recognized dairy farms.What You'll DoAs Herd Manager, you'll oversee the daily health, productivity, and welfare of our dairy herd while leading the farm team and driving operational excellence.ResponsibilitiesLead all aspects of herd health, reproduction, and animal welfarePartner with veterinarians, nutritionists, and leadership to maximize herd performanceMonitor milk quality and production metricsOversee breeding programs, maternity, calf care, and transition cowsMaintain accurate herd records and production dataLead, coach, and develop the farm teamEnsure compliance with animal welfare, food safety, and regulatory requirementsManage inventory of herd health supplies and medicationsIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and herd performanceSupport seasonal field work and equipment operation as neededWhat We're Looking ForRequired QualificationsAssociate degree in Animal Science, Dairy Management, Agriculture, or related field (or equivalent experience)3-5+ years of progressive dairy herd management or farm leadership experienceStrong knowledge of herd health, reproduction, nutrition, and milk productionProficiency in Artificial Insemination (AI)Experience supervising and developing employeesExperience with herd management software and production recordsAbility to operate tractors, skid steers, and agricultural equipmentValid driver's license with a clean driving recordPreferredBachelor's degree in Animal Science, Dairy Science, or related fieldDairy Herd Management or Herd Health certificationsCPR/First Aid CertificationWhy You'll Love Working HereAt Wright's, you'll join a team that genuinely cares about its animals, employees, and community.We OfferHealth, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and paid holidaysEmployee discounts on our farm-fresh productsA collaborative, family-oriented cultureThe opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a growing dairy operationScheduleFarming isn't a 9-to-5 job—and our cows don't take weekends or holidays off.This position requires flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and other hours as needed to support the health and well-being of the herd.
