Over the years, we've built a strong reputation as a trusted partner and valuable resource to a broad range of companies, from Fortune 500 to Private Equity, in categories that include health & wellness, food & beverage, home and hardlines. We revel in the opportunity to guide our clients on their path forward, building and activating strategies that ensure success. Everything we do is driven by our unrelenting commitment to leverage our deep operational experience, unparalleled omnichannel expertise, and industry relationships to drive performance in today's dynamic omnichannel marketplace. At MPG, we value our people and their contributions; they are critical to building the MPG Brand. Our leadership team has significant experience driving topline revenue and bottom-line profit, having held senior operating roles at leading CPG manufacturers and retailers. Our highly regarded, seasoned team of 400+ strategy and commercialization professionals brings strong operational experience and a collaborative approach. All team members are singularly focused on providing clients with pragmatic, real-world market approaches, built on the strong consumer, category and marketplace insights needed to create sustainable, profitable brand growth.Position OverviewAs the Director of Retail Media, you will lead MPG's Walmart Connect and Sam's Club media capability, moving it from adjacent media buying to an embedded capability that links category strategy, retail readiness, media activation, and closed-loop measurement. Media increasingly supports launches, mods, promotions, and share growth, and the funnel now spans onsite, offsite, app, store, pickup, and delivery — spend must prove incrementality, conversion, and category impact, not just deliver impressions. You will lead the team that manages media-only clients at Walmart and Sam's Club, own the annual strategy that ties media plans to merchant and brand priorities, and ensure campaigns clear readiness gates for PDP, inventory, creative, and item priorities before they launch. You will work cross-functionally across Sales, Operations, Insights, and the Omni/Content team to provide consulting to clients and internal stakeholders, and you will build out closed-loop reporting with InsightsLab and ViCi that proves media impact. This role also carries business development responsibility — expanding services with existing clients and helping land new logos for the Walmart team at MPG.Location: Hybrid.Key ResponsibilitiesRetail Media Strategy & Capability LeadershipMove Walmart Connect and Sam's Club media from adjacent media buying to an embedded capability that links category strategy, retail readiness, media activation, and closed-loop measurement.Own annual and quarterly media strategy for assigned clients, tying plans to merchant and brand priorities across Walmart and Sam's Club.Build a differentiated Walmart and Sam's Club growth offering for brands that need more than buyer access, positioning MPG as a strategic retail media partner.Lead the team that manages media-only clients at Walmart & Sam's Club, setting priorities and ensuring consistent quality across the portfolio.Retail Readiness & Campaign ActivationOwn readiness gates — PDP, inventory, creative, and item priorities — ensuring campaigns launch only when retail fundamentals support media investment.Oversee campaign setup, pacing, and optimization across Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, display, off-platform media, and connected shopper experiences.Ensure media plans account for the full funnel — onsite, offsite, app, store, pickup, and delivery — rather than a single channel or placement.Align media timing with launches, mods, promotions, and share-growth priorities across the client portfolio.Closed-Loop Measurement & Performance ReportingBuild closed-loop reporting with InsightsLab and ViCi that proves incrementality, conversion, and category impact, not just media delivery.Deliver executive-ready performance narratives that connect media spend to launches, share growth, and total category outcomes.Establish measurement practices that reduce handoffs and give clients clearer proof of spend efficiency and business impact.Cross-Functional Collaboration & AdvisoryWork cross-functionally across Sales, Operations, Insights, and the Omni/Content team to provide consulting on how media, content, and retail readiness connect.Serve as the internal advisory point of contact for Walmart Connect and Sam's Club media strategy, closed-loop measurement, and readiness requirements.Partner with Digital Commerce/Omni Commerce leadership to ensure media plans align with digital shelf, content, and marketplace priorities.Provide higher-value advisory that strengthens client retention and deepens MPG's role as a strategic partner rather than a media vendor.Business DevelopmentSupport business development by identifying opportunities to expand services with existing clients across Walmart and Sam's Club.Help land new logos for the Walmart team at MPG by presenting a differentiated retail media growth offering.Build the case for retail media investment with prospective clients, translating category strategy and closed-loop proof points into a compelling business narrative.Team Leadership & DevelopmentLead, coach, and develop Senior Digital Media Managers/Associate Digital Media Directors, Digital Media Managers, and Media Specialists supporting Walmart and Sam's Club media.Build and provide process and roadmap for team success, unlocking efficiency through clear SOPs and ways of working.Serve as the escalation point for client relationships and strategic oversight of media planning across the team.Support the education and career growth of Media Managers, Specialists, and Sr. Specialists on the team.Required Skills & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.8+ years of experience in retail media, digital media, ecommerce, or related environment, with direct experience managing Walmart Connect and/or Sam's Club media.Demonstrated experience developing and executing media strategy tied to category and merchant priorities, not just campaign-level tactics.Strong understanding of retail readiness fundamentals — PDP quality, inventory, creative, and item prioritization — and how they affect media performance.Experience building or using closed-loop measurement and reporting tools (e.g., InsightsLab, ViCi, or similar) to prove incrementality and category impact.Experience managing media across the full funnel, including onsite, offsite, app, store, pickup, and delivery. Experience managing or mentoring media managers, specialists, or analysts.Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with proven ability to work across sales, operations, insights, and content/digital shelf teams.Strong client-facing communication, presentation, and business development skills in a fast-paced, multi-client environment.High proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint; comfortable working with media platforms, dashboards, and reporting tools such as Pacvue or Skai.PreferredExperience managing CPG accounts across health and wellness, food and beverage, personal care, home, hardlines, or related categories.Experience within a broker, agency, retail media, or ecommerce consultancy environment.Experience with DSP, AMC, or comparable programmatic and closed-loop measurement platforms.Track record of expanding services with existing clients or supporting new business development/pitch efforts.Prior people management experience, including hiring, coaching, and developing media managers or specialists.Director-Level Soft SkillsRetail Media Vision — Sets the strategy for an embedded Walmart Connect and Sam's Club capability that links category strategy, readiness, activation, and proof.Retail Readiness Judgment — Knows when PDP, inventory, and creative are strong enough to support media investment, and holds the line when they aren't.Closed-Loop Measurement — Builds and interprets measurement that proves incrementality and category impact, not just delivery.Cross-Functional Alignment — Leads through influence across Sales, Operations, Insights, and Omni/Content teams to connect media to the full client picture.Client Advisory — Serves as a trusted strategic partner, helping clients see media as connected to launches, share growth, and category outcomes.Business Development Acumen — Identifies expansion opportunities with existing clients and builds a compelling case for new logos.Team Development — Builds and coaches media managers and specialists, clarifying expectations and growing retail media expertise.Ownership Mindset — Balances strategic capability-building with hands‑on attention to detail, urgency, and accountability.CompensationThe expected base salary range for this position is $160,000 - $165,000 annually, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
