    Description

    Position Summary: A leading global chemical company is looking for an experienced E&I Engineer for its production facility in the greater Cleveland area. This plant is commutable from the southeast Houston area. The E&I Engineer plays a crucial role in maintaining and improving thesafety and reliability of electrical distribution equipment and instrumentation throughout the site. This role will lean more toward the power side, troubleshooting and focusing on electrical reliability.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Serve as a dedicated engineering resource to support the site Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) maintenance team in day-to-day and project-based activities.
    • Lead and/or participate in root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and incident investigation teams to identify systemic issues and develop preventive solutions.
    • Develop detailed work scopes for engineered projects, ensuring technical accuracy and alignment with operational requirements.
    • Author and maintain maintenance work procedures and preventive maintenance procedures in accordance with site and industry standards.
    • Apply working knowledge of NEC, NESC, NFPA 70B, and NFPA 70E in support of safe and compliant electrical maintenance practices.
    • Utilize power system analysis and protective relay knowledge to support system reliability and equipment protection.
    • Investigate instrument failures, identify root causes, and issue actionable recommendations to prevent recurrence.
    • Actively participate in the Process Safety Management (PSM) process, including relevant reviews and documentation.
    • Provide engineering support for routine projects, turnarounds (TARs), and capital improvement projects.
    • Deliver troubleshooting assistance for unusual, complex, or persistent Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) problems.
    • Apply site I&E engineering technical procedures and applicable national standards consistently across all work activities.
    • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance technicians to identify, prioritize, and implement reliability improvements.
    • Interpret and work from instrumentation loop sheets, P&ID drawings, and one- and three-line electrical drawings.
    • Read and interpret function block and ladder logic diagrams; support PLC program changes and maintain associated control narratives.
    • Size and select instruments and control valves appropriate to process requirements and engineering specifications.
    • Communicate proactively and effectively with operations and maintenance personnel in the field on a daily basis.
    Qualifications

    Education/Experience
    • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required.
    • 5+ Years of experience are ideal (3-10+)
    Electrical
    • Experience with SKM power tool software is a plus.
    • Ability to troubleshoot motor controls through 4160 volts.
    • Size conduits, cables for motors, MCCs, feeders, etc.
    • Work with outside vendors on coordination, load flow, arc flash, and other studies related to the plant's electrical system.
