Job Description

Under general supervision, responsible for providing skilled craftsmanship as a journeyman electrician performing tasks to include installation, maintenance, and servicing of electrical systems

Schedule: Monday-Friday from 7:00am-3:30pm

Responsibilities

• Installs, maintains and services electrical systems by performing electrical work in the construction, alteration, repair and maintenance of buildings and equipment.
• Plans layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
• Observes functioning of installed equipment of systems to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement.
• Performs skilled electrical work related to air conditioning or refrigeration.
• Provide material take off for jobs and assists in preparing job cost estimates.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to diagnose electrical issues and to maintain, adjust, repair, and replace electrical systems and components.
• Ability to read design drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Ability to use and read millimeters and meggers and test equipment.
• Ability to function in a multi-trade team-working environment, assisting outside the electrical trade as needed.
• Ability to work off ladders, scaffolding, and rooftops of buildings.
• Demonstrated knowledge with equipment maintenance.

EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or GED is required.

LICENSES:

• Journeyman's license is required.
• Valid Texas driver's license is required - must have a clear driving record.

PREFERRED:

• Commercial renovation experience.
• Commercial service work experience.

This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

Required Skills

• Three (3) years of electrical experience is required.
