The Electrician Journeyman is responsible for inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical, electronic, and HVAC systems on rolling stock equipment. The roleensures compliance with applicable regulations and maintenance standards while performing electrical modifications, diagnosing equipment failures, and installing or replacing electrical components.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical, electronic, and HVAC systems.
Diagnose equipment malfunctions using test equipment, computers, schematics, and circuit diagrams.
Repair or replace electrical components including motors, generators, switches, relays, batteries, transformers, doors, electronics, signs, pantographs, and HVAC systems.
Perform approved electrical modifications and corrective repairs.
Work with AC and DC electrical systems.
Maintain and properly use electrical tools, testing equipment, and materials.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
Follow all applicable maintenance regulations and safety standards.
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience with electrical repair, testing, and troubleshooting of advanced electrical/electronic systems.
Experience with HVAC systems.
Experience with AC/DC electrical systems.
Ability to read and interpret schematics and mechanical drawings.
Technical school or apprenticeship experience preferred.
