Electronics Test Technician

Component-Level Troubleshooting & Electronic Test Equipment

Canonsburg, PA

Pay Estimated: $29.34 - $32.96/Hour

We are hiring a Senior Electronics Test Technician to support advanced electronics testing, troubleshooting, prototype development, and engineering validation activities within a high-technology defense environment. This role is ideal for technicians with experience diagnosing and repairing analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power electronic assemblies using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, signal generators, and other electronic test equipment while supporting engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform component-level troubleshooting and repair of analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power electronics assemblies.
  • Analyze circuit schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to identify and isolate electrical faults.
  • Operate advanced electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, signal generators, multimeters, and related diagnostic tools.
  • Apply electronic theory, including Ohm's Law, Kirchhoff's Laws, transistor theory, operational amplifiers, digital logic, and power conversion principles, to troubleshoot complex electronic systems.
  • Diagnose and replace failed or out-of-tolerance electronic components including resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, integrated circuits (ICs), and power devices.
  • Conduct functional, operational, and environmental testing to verify repairs and system performance.
  • Document failure analysis, root cause investigations, corrective actions, and repair activities within maintenance and quality systems.
  • Support engineering, production, and quality organizations by resolving technical issues and improving product reliability.
  • Assist with developing troubleshooting procedures, repair documentation, and electronic test plans.
  • Support the design, fabrication, assembly, modification, checkout, and testing of prototype electromechanical systems, experimental circuitry, laser/light transmission devices, and specialized test equipment.
  • Fabricate simple hardware and assist with engineering laboratory activities as required.

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Ability to Obtain a Secret Clearance
  • Associate's degree in Electronics Technology or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant electronics testing, troubleshooting, or repair experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair electronic assemblies at the component level.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Analog electronics including amplifiers, filters, oscillators, and power supplies.
    • Digital electronics including logic families, microcontrollers, and communication interfaces.
    • Power electronics including linear regulators, switching power supplies, and motor drives.
  • Proficiency using electronic diagnostic and laboratory test equipment.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.
  • Ability to fabricate simple hardware when required.
  • Working knowledge of computers, electronic test systems, and laboratory equipment.
  • May require a First Class FCC License and Solder Repair Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting engineering prototype development and laboratory testing.
  • Experience developing troubleshooting procedures, repair documentation, and electronic test plans.
  • Knowledge of failure analysis and root cause investigation methodologies.
  • Experience supporting defense, aerospace, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled process improvement initiatives or automation technologies.
