    Description

    Job Summary

    The Engineering Technician's primary functions are to assist the engineering team, or designate, in support of manufacturing and specifically the Secondary Operation department; assist with equipment set-ups and trouble-shooting process problems; assist the manufacturing process engineer with the development and testing of new products; update/improve processes; product testing and inspection; and, other duties as assigned. This position reports directly to the Manufacturing Process Engineer.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    NOTE: The job duties listed are typical examples of the work performed by positions in this job classification. Not all duties assigned are included, nor is it expected that the position will be assigned every duty.

    • Identify and troubleshoot process, material, or equipment problems to minimize down time and recommend solutions to Process Engineering
    • Develop, assemble, procure, or modify existing and new tooling, fixtures, and equipment to ensure efficient production working with design/Engineer and Machine Shop
    • Support IQMS BOM creation activities
    • Support the Process Engineers with revisions and improvement to manufacturing methods and procedures. This includes supporting continuous improvement activities including lean, yield improvements, 5S, etc.
    • Assist with hands on training of manufacturing employees on new products, tooling, equipment, and process revisions
    • Read assembly drawing, data sheets, and process sheets to perform testing, build fixtures, and trouble-shoot equipment working with design/Engineer and Machine Shop
    • Assist in failure investigations, troubleshooting, rework/repair of non-conforming manufactured product to determine root cause
    • Perform test, gather data, compile results, and present the information in professional method
    • Performing product inspections (dimensional and physical).
    Qualifications
    • High School diploma (or equivalent); Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology preferred
    • Proven work experience in similar position;
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
    • Proven ability to use hand tools
    Desired Additional Qualifications:
    • Understanding of RF welding, tipping, and braiding
    • Follow Process Engineers direction while displaying cooperative and positive behavior with co-workers
    • Ability to develop and execute a detailed test plan
    • Strong problem-solving skills and efficient management of time and resources
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
    • Knowledgeable in the plastic extrusion industry.
    • Previous work experience with Medical Device manufacturer or component manufacturer preferred
    Physical Demands
    • Viewing a computer screen for extended period of time
    • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
    • Occasional bending and stooping required
    • Walking, standing, and sitting for prolonged periods of time
    • Must be able to navigate lift systems and ladders while working in overhead situations including roof work, catwalks, mezzanines, etc.
    Work Environment
    • Normal office environments and manufacturing production areas, including clean room environment. The work is fast paced and demanding. May be subject to irregular hours, including evenings and weekends during times of need. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk and bend. The employee performs repetitive motions with wrists and neck. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds independently.
