Who You Are
This position is responsible for preparing cost estimates for construction projects, or services to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service. May specialize according to particular service performed or type of product manufactured.
What You'll Do
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Perform detailed quantity take-offs to determine accurate scope of work; organize the quantities with unit pricing in production of an estimate
Review and estimate/budget scope of work based on drawing & construction documents
Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating price
Responsible for calculating labor, material and all other costs associated with a project
Create and submit proposals to Clients within the specified timeframe
Responsible for managing and prioritizing multiple estimates/projects
Prepare and issue CO's and RFI's based on construction drawings
Responsible for creating and giving presentations to the Clients & Client Reps
Prepare and maintain AIA contracts and contract documentation
Create and execute sub contracts
Develop and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors
Responsible for building full conceptual cost estimates from architectural sketches/schematics
Experience in developing and implementing value engineering solutions to drive down project costs for the Owner while maintaining a high level of construction quality
Must be able to confidently negotiate throughout the bidding process
What You Bring
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Engineering or similar is required
3+ years estimator experience in the construction industry
Required Abilities and Skills:
Strong proficiency in reading and understanding plans and specifications
Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
Team player with a positive attitude who can also work independently, is self-motivated and success driven, yet able and willing to take direction.
Exceptional problem solving, organizational, and time management skills with a high level of attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and aggressive deadlines
Knowledge of On-Screen/On Center Take-Off, Computer Ease, Procore, Building Connected, InDesign a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
