Position SummaryThe Fleet Specialist supports construction operations by performing mechanic, welding, and fabrication tasks while also assisting with general yard duties. This role is responsible for maintaining equipment, organizing materials, and ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient work yard. This position reports to the Fleet Maintenance Manager located in Plymouth, MN.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other responsibilities as necessary.Yard & Equipment DutiesLoad, unload, organize, and stage construction materials, tools, and equipmentMaintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the yard and work areasAssist with inventory tracking and report shortages, damage, or missing materialsPerform basic maintenance and minor repairs on tools and equipmentOperate forklifts, loaders, or other yard equipment (if certified)Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulationsUse required personal protective equipment (PPE) and report unsafe conditionsWelding DutiesPerform welding tasks (MIG, TIG, Stick, or as required) on construction materials and equipmentFabricate, repair, and modify metal components according to drawings or specificationsInspect welds and finished work to ensure quality, strength, and safety standardsPrepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, and fittingMaintain welding equipment and ensure proper setup and storageQualificationsAssociate degree or equivalent certification in Heavy Equipment Technology or related fieldMinimum of 5 years of experience working with heavy equipmentValid CDL‑A license with tanker endorsement (required)Proficiency with electronic diagnostic equipment and softwareStrong understanding of hydraulic systems, engine diagnostics, and mechanical repairsExcellent problem‑solving and time‑management skillsAbility to work independently in the field with minimal supervisionAbility to travel to jobsites occasionally as neededWork EnvironmentWork may take place in both indoor and outdoor environments, including job sites with varying terrain and weather conditionsMust be able to work in non‑air‑conditioned shops and perform tasks outdoors in all weather conditionsRegular use of PPE is requiredPosition involves physical labor, including lifting, bending, and working in tight or elevated spacesPay and BenefitsPay and benefits are dependent upon skills, experience and unionPosition may be subject to pre‑employment screening, which may include background check and drug testing.Tri‑State Drilling is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
