Join The Preservation Society of Newport County and become part of an organization dedicated to preserving, protecting, and presenting 13 historic properties and landscapes in Newport, Rhode Island. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the stewardship of cultural, historical, and social treasures that define Newport's rich heritage. As a team member, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional visitor experiences while supporting the preservation efforts of this renowned organization.
Key Responsibilities
Provide friendly, efficient, and professional customer service to visitors at The Breakers Welcome Center Cafe
Assist guests with inquiries, ticketing, and information about the properties and exhibits
Prepare and serve food and beverages in accordance with health and safety standards
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the food service area
Handle cash register operations and process transactions accurately
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations
Address and resolve guest concerns promptly and effectively
Support special events and programs as needed
Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience in food service or customer service preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple tasks
Professional demeanor with a friendly and approachable attitude
Flexibility to work a mixture of weekdays and weekends, up to 30 hours per week
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights
Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to food handling is a plus
Passion for history, preservation, and providing outstanding visitor experiences

Requirements
High School Degree or equivalent preferred but not required.
Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
Ability to maintain flexible behavior and approach towards assignments.
Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.
Ability to operate credit card reader and POS cash register.
Previous customer service and cash handling experience preferred but not required.
